Community Wealth Building – A New, Inclusive Systems Approach to Economic Development

The event, titled, “Community Wealth Building – A New, Inclusive Systems Approach to Economic Development,” will be held from 8:00 – 10:30 am at Valo Park on 7950 Jones Branch Drive in McLean, Virginia. The Innovation Breakfast events are designed to engage the Northern Virginia community in a dialogue about new and innovative solutions to spur economic growth in our region. The May 11 Innovation Breakfast event will feature speakers Ted Howard, President and Co-Founder, The Democracy yanique RedwoodYanique Redwood, President and CEO, Consumer Health FoundationCollaborative, and Yanique Redwood, President and CEO, Consumer Health Foundation. Economic development professionals are partnering with community foundations, anchor institutions, and businesses all across the U.S. to develop a new model of economic growth called “Community Wealth Building,” that is rooted in community.  The goal of Community Wealth Building is to create inclusive, sustainable, and equitable models of economic success.  Join us to learn more about where and how Community Wealth Building strategies have taken root, and how business leaders in the Northern Virginia area can apply those strategies and help scale them.

On Thursday, September 14, 2017, the Community Foundation will hold the next Innovation Breakfast, and the focus is on the topic of the “Skills-Based” education coming of age, and the demand for highly-skilled employees.
