WHAT IS THE FUTURE FUND?
The Future Fund is a giving circle of more than 100 young professionals at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. Members of The Future Fund connect with each other personally and professionally, learn about the critical needs of our region, and donate (at affordable levels) to the philanthropic causes they care about most—a unique and exciting opportunity to pool contributions to benefit the community where we live and/or work!

HOW DO MEMBERS BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY?
At the start of the summer, members of The Future Fund choose a field of interest or cause to benefit with their pooled funds. Nonprofits working in the selected field submit proposals which are then reviewed by the Future Fund's Grants Committee. Finalists are chosen for site visits and Future Fund members vote on the winner in the Spring. The grant awardees are honored at the Future Fund Awards Gala. ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
In addition to the annual Future Fund Awards Gala, members enjoy a number of events over the course of the year, including monthly happy hours, educational meetings with nonprofit partners in the region, volunteer days and more!

"As a first time participant in a Grants Committee, I wasn't sure what to expect from the process. Reading the applications that were sent to us by the nonprofits was inspiring, and moreover, I was absolutely humbled by the site visits when I was able to see the processes in action. All of our finalists are contributing to our community in immeasurable ways.  I am grateful for this experience and would encourage all members to consider becoming a committee member to maximize your Future Fund experience."  -Lashelle Davis

'Everyone has a social cause that not only resonates but prompts them to make a difference. Sara Jaffe, Vice President of the Community Foundation, stated, “What’s interesting and compelling about the Future Fund is the members choose the direction it wants to take for grant making.” '- FACE magazine
