Eileen Ellsworth, President of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, will be a featured speaker on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Washington, D.C. for a session on the opening day of Philanthropy Week in Washington.  The program, titled “Empowering Communities. Together. The Power of Place Based Philanthropy and the Role of Community Foundations,” will highlight the mission and role of community foundations – the bedrock of community philanthropy in the United States.

Now in its second year, Philanthropy Week is a week-long series of events and activities that highlights the role of philanthropy in our society, hosted by the Council on Foundations.  Over two hundred foundation leaders from across the country will meet with Congressional delegates, representatives from Federal agencies, and White House officials to highlight the vial impact of philanthropy for communities they serve in districts and states across America.
