Michell Merhige Scholarship Fund

Fairfax

Michell MerhigeThe Michell Merhige Scholarship honors a young woman who overcame great obstacles in her life and went on to graduate from college, establish a successful career and give back to her community in numerous ways.

Each year, the scholarship awards $1,500 to graduating seniors attending a Fairfax County public school. Even bright, energetic students sometimes have to overcome great difficulties to attend college.

In Michell's case, she succeeded despite neglect, abuse, homelessness and three years in an orphanage. Finally she found a family and community that believed in her and supported her.

Michell believed that young people need advocates to succeed in the face of adversity. Will you be the person who gives to another student struggling to get to college?
