Helaine WeissmanMs. Weissman is an audit and consulting partner with over 32 years of experience. Her primary areas of expertise include U.S. Government contracting audits and cost accounting procedures, audits, reviews and compilations of for-profit and not- for-profit organizations (including hospitality), start-up businesses, accounting system design and set-up, system conversion and implementation.

In addition to her years spent in public accounting, early in her career Ms. Weissman served as Controller for a local government contractor for five years. As Controller, her duties included cost proposal writing, monitoring and formulation of indirect rates. She has extensive experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), preparation of SBA 8(a) Program applications, and of not-for-profit cost accounting principles. Her background includes wide-ranging experience with government auditors. She understands FAR requirements regarding identification, accumulations, and reporting costs. Moreover, she has learned how the indirect rate structure affects overall enterprise operations.

Ms. Weissman is a senior member of the firm’s government contracting and hospitality niche teams.

She has earned the Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE). She has written hospitality blogs on the new lease standards as they apply to clubs and attracting women to join city clubs and has authored an article appearing in BoardRoom Magazine. A leader in the industry, Ms. Weissman presented at the 2018 Hospitality Financial Technology Professionals’ (HFTP) annual convention on risk management, as well as at her local HFTP chapter boot camp. In addition, she co-presented a webinar on fraud in the hospitality industry for HFTP. Ms. Weissman also served as a moderator for one of the sessions at the 2019 HFTP National Club Summit

Professional memberships for Ms. Weissman include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants and Hospitality Financial Technology Professionals.

She is a member of The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia Business Women’s Giving Circle. She also represents her firm on the Accounting Advisory Council for the George Mason University School of Business. Ms. Weissman previously served on the Board of Directors of a local non-profit Virginia advocacy organization. She was previously a member and Treasurer of the National Association of Women Business Owners – Capital Area Chapter. Ms. Weissman serves on the Board of her local HFTP chapter. For the last two years, she has served on the HFTP National Club Advisory Council. In January 2019, Ms. Weissman was the first woman elected to serve on the Board of her firm.

Ms. Weissman received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Ms. Weissman lives in Vienna, VA with her husband, daughter and two dogs.
