Executive Director, YMCA Loudoun County

LauraHaving spent 17 years in the human service field Laura Fears has spent the majority of her time as an enthusiastic advocate for children.  She volunteers with many local causes and is active in community driven programs. One of her many passions are to give back to local children’s needs. Whether it is a coat drive, food drive or a mentoring program Laura combines her knowledge with eagerness to help where she can. Laura has a strong belief that living in the most affluent county in the United States comes with a responsibility to help others that are economically disadvantaged. The conviction that children shouldn’t go home alone to an empty apartment or home is what motivates her.

As the Executive Director of the YMCA Loudoun County branch Laura establishes program goals, oversees the organizations development efforts and ensures the YMCA meets critical needs of the community. Under Laura’s leadership the YMCA has grown into one of Loudon’s largest childcare providers. The YMCA’s mission is one of inclusiveness and never turns anyone away regardless of inability to pay.

Laura has made a career at the Y because she feels the organization has the power and opportunity to effect positive change in the lives of its participants and make a significant and lasting impact on the community it serves.

Laura lives with her husband in Leesburg and is the proud mother of two grown children.
