CFnova BusWomCirc Logo LowResThe Business Women's Giving Circle (BWGC) brings together engaged women who want to support positive change for girls and young women in our community. Launched in 2014 the BWGC invests in innovative programs, connects meaningfully with members and grantees, and inspires others to join the power of collective philanthropy.  BWGC has awarded $178,000 to organizations providing exciting experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), Leadership and Entrepreneurship with measurable impact on the lives of over 1,300 girls and young women in Northern Virginia.

The BWGC grant cycle application process opens July 23. Grant applications are due by September 21.

You will be instructed to set up an organizational profile before applying. If your organization has applied in the past, check with other staff members to get access to the organization profile already established. It contains grant history and past applications. Please do not set up a new profile unless you are sure your organization has not applied previously.

Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations or organizations providing charitable or educational services including K-12 public schools and colleges and universities. Local, state and federal government entities are not eligible to apply.
  • Grant requests dedicated to teaching and promoting STEM, Entrepreneurship and/or Leadership for young girls and women (K-12 and college age) in innovative ways in Northern Virginia will be considered. Funding may be used to support, expand or enhance existing programs or to start new programs in our region (with a proven track record.)
  • Grant requests for capacity building, program or general support purposes will be considered.  Applications for capital improvements, endowments, or scholarship awards will not be considered.
  • Grants will be made to organizations providing services in Northern Virginia (Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties, plus the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax,  Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park).
  • The 2016 grant pool will be determined by the number of BWGC members as of 9/16/2016.
  • We anticipate a grant pool of approximately $40,000.  Organizations can apply for grants of up to $20,000 in $5,000 increments.
  • Applications that are late or incomplete will not be considered.
  • Only one application per organization will be considered.
