Annual Award from Leadership Fairfax Given for Exceptional Visionary Leadership

Lynn Tadlock, Chairman of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia and Deputy Executive Director of the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, will receive the Trustee Leadership Award presented by Leadership Fairfax at their 17th Annual Northern Virginia Leadership Awards Luncheon on November 7, 2013 at the Westwood Country Club in Vienna, Virginia.

Board of Directors Welcomes New Members and Leadership in 2013-2014 Fiscal Year

K. Lynn Tadlock, deputy executive director for the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, will become chair of the board of directors at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia at the start of the fiscal year on July 1. In addition, the Community Foundation is welcoming several new board members while thanking one board veteran who has reached the board’s maximum term limits.

Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s Loudoun Initiative Recognizes Five Organizations in Loudoun County

The Loudoun Impact Fund has announced the winning organizations of its inaugural competitive grant cycle. A total of $50,000 has been awarded to five nonprofit organizations in Loudoun County to support capacity building among Loudoun County nonprofits as well as programs that address the wellbeing of children and youth, specifically in the areas of mental health and substance abuse.

Nine Schools and Nonprofits Recognized for Taking Innovative Approaches to STEM Education in Northern Virginia

The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s Innovation Fund has announced the winners of its inaugural grant cycle. A total of $25,000 has been awarded to nine schools and nonprofit organizations in grants of up to $5,000 to support their innovative approaches to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education across Northern Virginia.

Eileen M. Ellsworth Joins the Community Foundations National Standards Board

Eileen M. Ellsworth, president of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, has joined the Community Foundations National Standards Board to help it guide sound policies and accountable practices among the more than 700 community foundations across the United States. The National Standards Board is a supporting organization of the Council on Foundations, which promotes the highest standards of ethical behavior in philanthropy.

More than $278,000 in Grants to 30 Local Nonprofits

The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia has announced the winners of its 2013 Community Investment Grants. The organizations, all of which provide support to those in need throughout Northern Virginia, have received grants of up to $10,000 that will further their impact on the health and general wellbeing of neighbors, communities, and the entire region. The total sum of grants made is $278,938.

Young Professional Giving Circle at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia Targets Programs That Combat Homelessness
