Bernard Mustafa, SVP & General Manager of PVBS an Xtivia Company, is Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s new chairman of the board of directors effective July 1, 2019 He is a highly respected executive in government contractor circles. A frequent participant on numerous industry panels, Bernard has regularly been tapped by Microsoft to provide insight and ideas on how to grow Microsoft Dynamics as the premier ERP solution for government contractors and other professional services industries. He leads corporate strategy efforts at PVBS and is a champion for the company globally.
“As chair of the board of directors, I am looking forward to expanding NVCF’s civic leadership role in the region and to continue our focus on greater capacity to respond to critical need and to seed innovation in the Northern Virginia region,” said Mustafa. “The Community Foundation has seen tremendous growth, doubling its asset base since I joined the board six years ago. These are exciting times for the Community Foundation and I look forward to working with our team to build on the legacy of those who have come before me as we continue our mission to build a community that works for all.”
During his previous six years on the Community Foundation’s board, Mustafa has served as vice chair of the board, chair of the Diversity Task Force, chair of the Audit Committee and co-chair of the Community Foundation's annual Raise the Region gala. He also currently co-chairs the Northern Virginia Complete Count Committee.

February 2018, PVBS was acquired by Xtivia Corporation. Prior to joining PVBS, Bernard was President of Copia Enterprises which provided financial and technology consulting services to federal government agencies and commercial clients. Before that, he was the Chief Operating Officer at Standard Technology Inc., a government contractor with 200 employees in 16 states and was a director at the American Express Tax & Business Service, leading the Rockville office of American Express’s accounting and consulting division. Bernard also was the director of the Chemistry Division and Finance and Administration for Corning Hazleton.
Bernard holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Baltimore, an MBA in Finance from the Morgan State University. He is Certified Public Accountant is the states of Virginia and Maryland. Bernard served in the United States Army and is Viet Nam veteran.
