Lift Me Up! Fund

The Georgia Bay Fund for Lift Me Up! was created to honor Georgia’s 27 years supporting the kids and adults who have benefited from Lift Me Up! Georgia has been involved in Lift Me Up! since 1995, when she began volunteering as a sidewalker. She became more involved with the program and went on to serve as board president, board secretary, volunteer coordinator, program coordinator, and most recently as executive director for the past six years. Georgia retired as Executive Director in December 2021 but continues to serve Lift Me Up! doing what she loves the most…..working with the kids and adults who come to experience what Lift Me Up! has to offer them!

Georgia has been instrumental in the growth of Lift Me Up!. She has touched all aspects of it, from selecting and caring for the horses, mucking out stalls, training volunteers, instructing riders, and fundraising. She was responsible for starting Lift Me Up! Summer Horsemanship Camps in 2006, when children of all abilities came together for a week with horses; it remains popular today. One of her favorite activities was to take riders to the Therapeutic Riding Association of Virginia horse show, and see not only the pride the riders felt, but their parents too.

Watching the riders improve physically and emotionally and gain self-esteem have brought her great joy, as has working with the Lift Me Up! staff and volunteers who love the horses and riders as much as she does.

In December 2023, this fund name was amended to the Lift Me Up! Fund but continues to honor Georgia's legacy. All donations to this fund are fully tax-deductible and will go directly to support Lift Me Up! programs, caring for the horses, and improving the property.
