Northern Virginia First Responders Scholarship Fund

The Northern Virginia First Responders Scholarship benefits first responders and dependents of active first responders in the Northern Virginia Area by helping to finance their higher education.


Up to $20,000 per student ($5,000/per year, maximum 4 years). A minimum 3.0 GPA maintained annually during higher education. Three to four scholarships awarded per year.


  • Student must be a graduating senior from a high school, home school, or secondary school within Loudoun, Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington, Fauquier and Orange County
  • Student must either be an active first responder (Police, Fire, EMT) or a dependent of an active first responder
  • Student is eligible if he or she is an “active volunteer,” which is defined as a first responder who is in good standing with the department, and has been “active” a minimum of one year within the volunteer service
  • Student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher to apply
  • Student must be in good standing with the county school system and/or demonstrate high moral character
