Julie Coons is President and CEO of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce (NVC), Greater Washington’s leading business advocacy organization and the voice of business in Northern Virginia. Since joining NVC, she has worked with business, civic, and government leaders to advance economic growth, strengthen regional competitiveness, and ensure employers have a powerful voice in policy conversations shaping the region’s future. Under her leadership, NVC has strengthened its role in regional thought leadership, business engagement, and advocacy across Greater Washington.
Prior to leading NVC, Julie Coons served as Chief Operating Officer of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, President and CEO of the Electronic Retailing Association, President and CEO of the Tech Council of Maryland, Executive Vice President at PCIA-The Wireless Infrastructure Association, and held international business development and policy roles focused on Asia Pacific for nearly 20 years.
Julie serves on several nonprofit boards and is active in leadership networks, including the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, Washington Airports Task Force, U.S. Chamber Committee of 100 Chambers, George Mason University’s National Leadership Council, and Northern Virginia’s 123 Club. She graduated cum laude from the University of the Pacific with degrees in economics and Japanese language and literature.
