Kathleen Lowenthal is an expert in nonprofit management, philanthropic advising and fundraising. Throughout her career, across varying roles and organizations, the common thread has been working to develop strategies and execute programs that connect funders with those implementing impactful programs.

 

In her current role at Development Officer at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Kathleen works closely with the President & CEO, as well as the communications and development teams to align the foundation’s strategies and fundraising targets with the services we provide to our donors and partners.

 

Previously, at Arabella Advisors, Kathleen oversaw nonprofit partnerships generating over $1 billion annually in philanthropic activity. During her 9.5 years at Global Impact, she was responsible for launching the organization’s Advisory practice—leading client engagements that supported nonprofits, corporations, and foundations, and driving philanthropic growth in the US and globally.

 

Kathleen earned a Masters in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University, and she holds a Bachelors in International Relations and Spanish from Colgate University.

 

Fun fact: Kathleen is a 9th generation Washingtonian, who was born in Fairfax County, grew up in Montgomery County, and lived in NW DC before settling back in Virginia 15+ years ago. She lives in Fairfax with her husband and 2 children, and an adored pitbull mix named Ruthie.
