Laura Moore copyLaura brings extensive experience in nonprofit finance, operations, and community-focused philanthropy. She grew up in Northern Virginia and has spent many years serving mission-driven organizations across the Southeast, developing expertise in financial strategy, organizational management, and fund oversight.

In her current role as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Laura partners closely with President & CEO Renée Byng Yancey and senior leadership to ensure the Foundation’s financial goals, compliance standards, and operational objectives are met. She collaborates regularly with the Board Treasurer and Chairperson of the Investment Committee.

Previously, Laura served as Chief Financial and Operating Officer at the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation, where she guided financial strategy, investment management, and operational oversight. She also led organization-wide systems improvements to enhance transparency, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making, and is active in the Finance, Administration, and Officers Group (FAOG) for community foundations.

Laura holds a B.A. in Economics from George Mason University and an M.B.A. in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University. After many military relocations with her husband, a retired U.S. Navy submariner, Laura developed a deep appreciation for strong, connected communities and now works remotely from Coastal Georgia. Outside of work, she enjoys kayaking, biking, and sharing her love of music by performing on flute with community ensembles, including the Jacksonville Symphony.
