renee 300x350Renée Byng Yancey was selected to lead the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia in 2024 as its 4th President & CEO. A proud Northern Virginia resident, the community is a place she has called home since 2007.

An experienced nonprofit and philanthropy executive, Renée’s early career began in the banking industry in her hometown of Philadelphia. Renée is dedicated to social change, strong and thriving organizations and communities, family, and economic success.

Her career in the nonprofit sector spans the areas of education, workforce, and community engagement.

Prior to taking the helm of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Renée most recently held two inaugural senior leadership roles with the American Institute of Architects leading a team of 100 and 200 global chapters, and management of hundreds of volunteers. She also held a leadership position with the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington in the Pacific Northwest.

Throughout her career, Renée has worked at the intersections of social change, public, private partnership, and civic engagement. She currently serves on the board of trustees of Peirce College. An avid sports fan, Renée is proud to root for her hometown Philadelphia sports teams. She earned a Master of Science degree from Drexel University and holds an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Peirce College.

Fun facts: Renée enjoys engaging in fitness activities. She is a volunteer with the Washington National Cathedral as a member of the Flower Guild and loves pipe organ music.
