In a recent conversation with the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Marla Lahat, Executive Director of Home Care Partners, opened up about the organization’s journey—highlighting both the triumphs and challenges of serving aging adults and their families. As a 2025 Aging Fund grantee, Home Care Partners has expanded its services to include new language classes, helping bridge communication gaps and better serve a diverse community.

Marla also spoke candidly about the financial pressures nonprofits face, especially when trying to meet growing needs with limited resources. Her insights reflect the resilience and dedication of those working on the front lines of care.

About the Aging Fund

To help Northern Virginians over the age of 65 age well in our region, the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia makes grants with a focus in Aging annually through the Community Investment Funds grant cycle, and has developed resources, including two data-driven reports, to help the region better understand the needs of this population.

The Aging Fund is a component fund of The Permanent Fund for Northern Virginia, an unrestricted endowment at the Community Foundation that makes grants to help build a community that works for everyone.
