Approximately one in two workers in Northern Virginia are currently experiencing some level of anxiety and/or depression, and about one in four fall in the clinical range.

Impaired mental health represents a hardship at home—to the individual, to their family and friends—and at work, increasing the likelihood of labor force exits as well as absenteeism (missing work) and presenteeism (diminished functioning while attempting to work). These productivity losses due to mental health carry a discrete economic impact, which up until now had not been quantified locally.

Join us and our partners at George Mason's Center for Regional Analysis as we launch Insight Region’s third report on mental health, that applies a novel methodology to quantify the impact of worker mental health on our region’s economic output.
