The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia hosted a virtual lunch session for donors and advisors on July 24 focused on the potential impact of recent federal policy changes on charitable giving and estate planning. The session featured an overview of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” offering both policy and practical perspectives.
Jeff Hamond, Vice President at Van Scoyoc Associates and lead representative for the Community Foundation Awareness Initiative, provided a policy-focused analysis of the bill and its implications for philanthropy.
Complementing Jeff’s insights, Devin Johnson, CPA, CFP®, of Mason Investment Advisory Services, shared practical guidance for navigating charitable planning under the new legislation. James Head, Managing Director at BDO, discussed current trends and strategies in high-net-worth giving, including the use of CRTs, CLTs, and DAFs.
This informative session helped attendees better understand the evolving landscape of charitable giving and how to plan effectively in light of upcoming changes.
