The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s Community Investment Funds (CIF) announced today the receipt of a $100,000 donation made by Reston-based company Verisign, Inc. to help respond to the critical needs of the residents in Northern Virginia.

The CIF is the signature grant cycle managed by the Community Foundation in which funds are invested in organizations serving the Northern Virginia community in the areas of aging, child and youth development, education, intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, military personnel and their families, and safety net support.

“CIF provide critical-needs grants to local organizations serving some of the region’s most economically-distressed residents,” said Eileen Ellsworth, president and CEO at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. “When the business community and nonprofits partner, we can make a huge difference in offering relief to our friends and neighbors in need.”

“Supporting the communities where we live and work is important to Verisign,” said CEO Jim Bidzos.

"We are grateful to Verisign for supporting our mission to respond to the critical needs in our community. This donation will support important work,” said Ellsworth.

In 2021, Community Foundation awarded $462,450 in CIF grants to 35 local organizations. The Community Foundation expects to award a record amount in grants in April 2022 through the growth of permanent endowments to support each area of need and through generous support from the community.
