Community Lodgings, $10,000
Serving Alexandria
Funding will assist in the expansion of the Youth Education Program which enriches the lives of homeless and low-income children through afterschool/summer education, mentoring, recreational activities and parent outreach.
Girls on the Run of NOVA, $5,000
Serving all of Northern Virginia
Funding will expand programming and benefit more girls from low-income communities, teaching them important lessons about self-esteem, leadership, teamwork, healthy eating and exercise habits.
Greenbrier Learning Center, $10,000
Serving Arlington County
Funding will provide general support to expand the Learning ROCKS! Afterschool Program to a new affordable housing complex site increasing GLC’s impact from 60 to 80 students each day after school.
Higher Achievement, $10,000
Serving Alexandria
Funding will support the Alexandria Achievement Center, which provides year-round, multi-year support for students during the 5th – 8th grades and transitions them successfully to high school.
The House, Inc., $10,000
Made possible through a grant from the Haymarket Fund
Serving Prince William County
Funding will support services offered by the EmpowerMEnt Center to eliminate behavioral concerns and resolve personal and interpersonal issues of adolescents with highest risk for dropout.
Neediest Kids, $10,000
Serving all of Northern Virginia
Funding will help low-income students succeed in school by providing the basic essentials, including eyeglasses, clothing, coats, shoes, school supplies, uniforms, school fees, personal care items, groceries and other necessities.
Education
Annandale Christian Community for Action, $7,750
Serving Fairfax County
Funding will secure a Safety Net Fund to make it possible for Fairfax County families who lose their eligibility for child care subsidies from federal/state/county funds, to keep their children enrolled in childcare programs.
Beacon for Adult Literacy, $10,000
Made possible through a grant from the Haymarket Fund
Serving Manassas and Manassas Park
Funding will provide the only tuition-free adult ESOL education program in the area.
Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, $9,750
Serving Fairfax County and Alexandria
Funding will help immigrant parents and their children develop English language skills, reinforce what the children are learning in school, and promote learning at home.
Literacy Volunteers of America, $10,000
Made possible through a grant from the Haymarket Fund
Serving Prince William County
Funding will provide vital adult literacy services to 400 ESOL adult learners to help them develop or improve English reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Health, Mental Health and Aging
Alzheimer's Family Day Center, $7,119
Serving Fairfax and Arlington counties
Funding will continue to assist the Alzheimer’s Family Day Center in providing direct care and support for individuals with dementia and their family caregivers with education programs, individual counseling and support groups.
Arlington Pediatric Center, $10,000
Serving Arlington County
Funding will continue to provide children and youth up to age 19, living in poverty, with access to a patient-centered medical home that provides comprehensive outpatient medical care regardless of family income or legal status in this country.
Brain Injury Services, $10,000
Serving Fairfax County and Alexandria
Funding will support in-home and community-based assistive technology services to seniors with brain injuries.
Main Street Child Development Center, $9,500
Serving Fairfax County
Funding will make it possible to continue to provide high quality, no-cost mental health services to at-risk children and their parents.
New Hope Housing, Inc., $10,000
Serving Fairfax County
Funding will provide housing with ongoing support services, assisting chronically homeless single adults to address their mental health, medical, dental and substance abuse needs.
Project Mend-A-House, Inc., $10,000
Made possible through a grant from the Haymarket Fund
Serving Manassas and Prince William County
Funding will provide free home repairs and home modification services to the vulnerable residents so that clients may continue to live safely and independently in their own homes.
Military Personnel and Their Families
Azalea Charities, $10,000
Made possible through a grant form the Haymarket Fund
Funding will support providing a severely injured Iraq War veteran who is dependent on his parents for care, with a new home that will meet their needs in Prince William County.
Boulder Crest Retreat for Wounded Warriors, $9,800
Funding will help cover one week of expenses for D.C. area wounded warriors, their family members and caretakers while attending the Boulder Crest Retreat for Wounded Warriors.
Final Salute, Inc., $10,000
Funding will assist the Housing Outreach Mentorship Encouragement program (H.O.M.E.) in offering a housing assistance program for homeless female veterans and their dependent children.
Linden Resources, $10,000
Funding will provide needed resources to the Vets Ready2Work™ program to continue to provide employment assistance to veterans with disabilities.
Operation First Response, Inc., $10,000
Funding will provide needed resources to wounded warriors/disabled veterans and their families including emergency needs, including rent, utilities, vehicle payments, groceries, clothing and travel expenses.
Our Military Kids, Inc., $10,000
Funding will support extracurricular activities and tutoring to the children of deployed Virginia National Guard and Reserve personnel, as well as to the children of wounded and fallen warriors in all branches of service.
ServiceSource, $10,000
Funding will support the Warrior Bridge program’s efforts to provide employment services and emergency financial assistance for transitioning wounded veterans and their families.
Poverty Relief
Alternative House, $8,000
Serving Fairfax County
Funding will help support a safe shelter and services for homeless high school students who do not have a parent or guardian.
Assistance League of Northern Virginia, $5,019
Serving Fairfax County
Funding will expand the Operation School Bell® Weekend Food for Kids program to provide an additional 2,500 food packages to children in schools.
Empowered Women International, $8,000
Serving Fairfax County and Alexandria
Funding will support the creation of self-employment and economic opportunity for immigrant, refugee and low-income women through a yearlong program of entrepreneurship training, business mentoring, marketing support and access to capital.
Food for Others, $5,000
Serving Fairfax and Arlington counties
Funding will provide weekend food through the "Power Pack Program" serving elementary-aged children, who are on the free or reduced lunch program during the school week and may go hungry over the weekends.
Herndon-Reston FISH, $8,000
Serving Fairfax County
Funding will provide short-term emergency help with rent, utilities, prescriptions, food and other necessities to poor or otherwise distressed residents, for whom immediate help is not available through government or other agencies.
Just Neighbors, $8,000
Serving all of Northern Virginia
Funding will help clients from Northern Virginia access legal services and achieve self-sufficiency.
Northern Virginia Family Service, $10,000
Made possible through a grant from the Haymarket Fund
Serving Prince William County
Funding will support the Emergency Assistance Program located on the SERVE campus in Manassas which provides assessment, planning and case management, and financial assistance.
Offender Aid and Restoration, $8,000
Serving Arlington
Funding will support workplace development and employment retention training, including related support services, for men and women returning to the community from incarceration.
