Earlier this month, Donya Momenian joined the staff at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia as the 2021 summer research and marketing intern. It’s always exciting to see new faces bring fresh energy and ideas into our work! Donya is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech University with a Bachelor’s in Economic Science. We asked Donya if she would share a little bit about herself.

Why did you want to intern with the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia?

During my time at Virginia Tech, I valued our school motto, “that I may serve,” and wanted to use what I had learned in the classroom for such a purpose. I felt that the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia was the perfect example of this principle. I truly admire the work that the organization does for our region.

What are your responsibilities as the Community Foundation intern?

As a Summer Research and Marketing Intern, I assist with data sets and reports as well as events and content that share the objectives of the Community Foundation.

What do you hope to learn during your internship?

I hope to learn more about current issues in the region and solutions moving forward like those detailed in the Build Back Dream Forward report and more.

What are your thoughts about a virtual internship?

Because everyone at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is so kind and welcoming, the virtual internship has not felt much different than a typical setting. It has been a pleasure to meet everyone and work together via Zoom.
