The Community Foundation of Northern Virginia hosted a webinar on the State of Nonprofits in Northern Virginia, featuring data and research from Insight Region® in partnership with the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. The presentation highlighted the challenges faced by nonprofits, including reduced government funding, declining donations, and increased demand for services, as well as the impact of the recent government shutdown.
Presenters highlighted the critical need for flexible funding and local giving to help nonprofits address challenges and adapt to digital transformation, while also emphasizing capacity building and financial management support. The webinar featured an economic analysis of the nonprofit sector’s significant contributions and impact, offering strategies to strengthen the sector through collaboration, advocacy, and targeted community support.In response, the Community Foundation has accelerated its grant-making process and launched initiatives to deepen connections between nonprofits and donors, using data and storytelling to demonstrate impact and drive meaningful change.
