Oakton, VA – The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia recently awarded scholarships to 110 area students, totaling $304,040 to support their higher education goals beginning this fall. This year’s awards went to students pursuing either undergraduate or graduate degrees in areas like STEM, medicine, health, and education, as well as students planning to attend Northern Virginia Community College.

Bernard MustafaBernard Mustafa, SVP & General Manager of PVBS an Xtivia Company, is Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s new chairman of the board of directors effective July 1, 2019 He is a highly respected executive in government contractor circles. A frequent participant on numerous industry panels, Bernard has regularly been tapped by Microsoft to provide insight and ideas on how to grow Microsoft Dynamics as the premier ERP solution for government contractors and other professional services industries. He leads corporate strategy efforts at PVBS and is a champion for the company globally.

In 2017, The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia (CFNOVA) launched our Environment Fund, with a mission “to protect, restore and improve the natural environment of Northern Virginia, thereby enhancing the health and quality of life of its citizens and the economy of the region.” The fund’s goals include supporting collaboration, public awareness, and public engagement to improve and protect the natural environment.

2019 Community Investment Grants Will Help Respond to Critical Community Needs in Northern Virginia Region

Oakton, VA – The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia announced 41 winners of its annual Community Investment Funds grant cycle for 2019. The $404,792 in grants is a record amount ever awarded by Community Foundation and will help local organizations provide critical services to residents throughout Northern Virginia, including programs that help to improve the health, education, and general wellbeing of residents, communities, and the entire region.

Urban Vertical Farming Program is 2019 Innovation Fund Grant Recipient

Oakton, VA – The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia awards a $25,000 grant to the PHILLIPS Programs for Children and Families, a Fairfax-based nonprofit that serves the needs of individuals ages 6-22 with behavioral health needs and developmental disabilities and their families through education, family support services, community education and advocacy.
